Mentoring is a good thing. You find your area of expertise (please eductae yourself first), then aquaint yourself with those in need of assistance in that area. there are plenty of agencies that can give you a great statr such as Literacy First, Children & family Services etc.

Many corporations have adopted formal mentoring programs where sharp, up and comers, are assigned to a mentor who is not their boss but who can offer career guidance, advice on how to navigate the company, and how to be successful. The key to the success of these programs are good chemistry between mentor and mentee, and both committed to success.
Most successful executives list having informal or formal mentors as a key success factor in Their career.
