Q – writing mentoring?

Avielleya asked:

Does anyone know how to get a good writing mentor? Like, a website or something that pairs aspiring writers with mentors that help them? Any info would be EXCELLENT!!!!
And by the way, an article about “my contribution to the world of insomniacs” is NOT an answer to my question. I would HIGHLY appreciate it if ONLY REAL answers were submitted.

Yikes! I’ve been scrounging around the ‘net and it appears that most of the Mentoring programs for writers are at local universities and you generally need to be a student. There are some sites where you can Hire a mentor ( ), but I was under the impression that a mentor wasn’t paid. They did it out of their own good nature (or the company/school paid them to mentor, or they got a perk of some kind).

You may want to peruse this site, I haven’t gone all the way through it, but it seems to be offering mentoring .

I’ve found several that want to teach someone how to be a mentor, but that is not what you need right now.

This looks like a good site: . It is online, but they charge as much as $40/hour with instant messaging.

Not too sure about this one either, because they appear to be offering writing assignments .

It appears your best bet would be to take a night class or online class in writing and have the college, university, school assign you a mentor. You have a really good idea, but it seems everyone wants the greenstuff. Hope this helps, good luck.
